Fashion Pieces that Can Go From Everyday to Special Occasions

While everyone loves to go out and buy new clothes for every special occasion, buying something new for every event might not be practical, especially in this unsure economy. Or, you might have a special event planned for right after a long day at the office and will not have the time to completely change your outfit. There are several pieces that you have in your closet that can go from the work place to any special occasion with minor changes.

Every woman should own a little black dress. Not only is a black dress appropriate for the office, but it can be worn to any number of events. You could wear the dress to a wedding, a special dinner, a first date, anything. Just remember to add accessories that make the dress go from day wear to night wear. Adding a sparkly pair of heels and some pops of jewelry will easily transform the dress for any occasion.

Most women also own a black pencil skirt. A pencil skirt is great to wear to the office because it looks extremely professional while still being feminine. However, you can wear this piece of fashion to many different things. To dress the skirt up from work just add a top with some visual interest like sequins or a satin detail. Changing from a pair of comfortable work shoes to a pair of heels will make the outfit look more appropriate for special occasions. Jewelry can also help to change a work outfit to an evening outfit. Adding a large piece of jewelry will make the outfit look more put together and formal.

Making an Effort to Make Everyday Wear Special

For anyone who works from home, has small children, or tells themselves that they are just running to the store, it is still important to make the effort to make yourself look presentable before leaving the house.

There is an appropriate time and place to wear sleepwear and that is only in the house. Even if you are just running to the store quickly to grab some milk you need to make sure that you change. I don’t know about anyone else, but it seems like whenever I look my worst I always run into someone I know. Like most people, I fantasize about the day when I will run into someone from my past looking wonderful and put together. That day does not involve me in my pajamas buying milk. If for you other reason then not wanting someone you used to know to see you, change into regular clothes before leaving the house.

It is a fact that we, as humans judge by outward appearances first. For many of us, the circumstances of where we are when we see someone does not come into play when we are looking at someone wearing their pajamas in the grocery store. Not only will you be treated better by those around you when you look presentable, but you will also feel better about yourself.

When we walk into a store wearing something inappropriate, we know we are not dressed to the best of our ability. We run in and out as fast as we can. Taking the time to put on some real clothes will make you feel better about yourself and what you are wearing.

The basics for family seasonal wear

Every family member from parent to child has their own taste and style when it comes to fashion. Little Susie enjoys her frilly dresses while teenage Tom prefers t-shirts and jeans. Styles in a household are as different as a moonbeam from a sunbeam but there is a common strategy that each member strives for when it comes to furnishing their fashion desires. There are similar elements that influence what each person wears, a cycle that controls each decision concerning how to dress appropriately. Of course the influencing elements are none other than the seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter.

For each season, regardless of fashion taste, family members choose clothing with the same intent: to keep the body warm in cooler temperatures and cool in warmer temperatures.

Spring and summer seasonal wear

Look in any closet and you will find a basic family seasonal style made with the same fabric in the form of t-shirts, dresses and shorts. The fabric is cotton. Cotton is lightweight and capable of keeping a person warm in the spring and cool in the summer.

Other basic family spring wear include jeans and cardigans. Other basic summer wear is composed of tank tops and capris.

Fall and winter seasonal wear

When temperatures begin to drop family members can agree that fleece jackets and flannel shirts are efficient at keeping a body warm in the fall and winter. Thermal underclothes are great for winter wear and come in tops and pants that can be worn beneath fashionable trousers and shirts.

Family members accumulate common winter accessories such as boots, hats and gloves in order to keep warm against the frigid winter air. Although styles may be different the idea to remain comfortable remains the same.

Fashion Tips for Finicky Teenage Girls

The routine is the same each time a finicky teenage girl enters a clothing store. The rolling of the eyes begins before both feet are in the door. The sighs start when she can find no style that seems impressive enough to even consider trying on. It is easy to notice the dazed and confused look covering the face of a teenage girl who picks over clothing like she were reading the stock report: with little interest and no understanding.

Fashion is about incorporating personality when choosing colors, patterns and accessories. Finicky teenage girls can use this knowledge as a guide when it comes to deciding on a fashion that is suitable for her.

Start with the basics.

A closet should hold basic clothing essentials such as a couple pair of jeans, a few solid color t-shirts, a pair or two of shorts (khaki’s are nice) and a jacket; preferably denim. Add a decent pair of athletic shoes, boots and sandals to cover the feet. For accessories that can be interchanged with outfits consider belts of various widths and scarves in a variety of colors.

Choose the right jeans

Sometimes even selecting the basics can be a challenge for the finicky teenage girl. When selecting jeans she should keep in mind the different styles: boot cut, skinny, straight and trouser jeans. Each style creates a different look. For example the boot cut will accent the hips while skinny jeans will put emphasis on the thighs and rear. Straight jeans will elongate the body and trouser jeans will assist in concealing larger thighs.

Be creative with colors

Fashion can be festive. Colors and patterns are an expression of the personality. If dark colors are a teenage girl’s favorite then she should consider wearing bright colored shoes or sandals, maybe something in red. Patterned tops are fun and can be simplified when adding a cardigan over the top.
