Many celebrities will dress their children in the most expensive clothing on the market. Few are the celeb moms who buy for price-saving and durability, especially since kids grow out of clothes quickly.

One new trend is dressing children in smaller versions of the same outfits Mom wears. It looks great to see look-alike moms and kids, giving strangers the appearance of them being very well put-together, which many celebrities are. They lead active, busy lives and public appearances can make or break the impression people have of them. Many wear Dereon clothes to stay in fresh designs.

Twin Outfits Make Kids Feel Grown Up

It is empowering and confidence-building when others look enviously at your outfit or jewelry, and with a miniature version at your side, the pleasure is doubled. Even if nobody remembers your names, they’ll remember the great outfit with the little mini-twin tagging along.

Kids spend most of their lives trying to gain parental approval and emulating them in an attempt to feel a part of things. It not only makes kids feel special to wear the same clothes as a parent, but it also makes them feel a bit more grown up, too. They love to feel like the center of attention.

The cliche, Dress for Success is more than just an old saying. It is actually been proven that when people like what they’re wearing, it gives them more confidence and they carry themselves differently. They stand up straighter and make better impressions on other people. The same goes for kids.

Join the trend and have kids dress like successful adults. It is a win-win.

Dressing for Special Occasions

Man and woman in formal wear

If you are like most people, you have a few items in your closet that were purchased for a special occasion and will likely never be worn again. Whether a bridesmaid dress, tuxedo or holiday article, one has to wonder if there is a better way.

There are actually a few alternatives to buying something for one-time use. One idea is to rent the apparel. Most people know that you can rent a tuxedo, but it is also becoming possible to rent other types of apparel as well. For example, costumes can often be rented. This will cut back on all those Halloween costumes getting dusty in the back of your closet.

Altering is another option – often you can take what is too formal for regular wear, such as a bridesmaid’s dress, and have it altered. When something contains a great amount of fabric, you may even get a couple things out of the material involved.

Thrift shops and second-hand clothing stores are a great place to either locate something for that special occasion at a discount or to trade in something you already own but won’t wear again and get something else that you will. Some shops operate on consignment so that you actually will make money for your clothing. Likewise you can sell your unwanted articles on an online website or find ones there for less money.

If you are looking for a way to get rid of articles, consider your local theater that may be able to use them in their productions. If they are a nonprofit you can even take a deduction for the donation.

Selecting What To Wear For A Party – Pay Extra Attention To Minor Details

Very few individuals understand the importance of party wear. They simply conclude that party wear is something that must be fancy, stylish and glamorous. Well, party wear must include all these features but it should go beyond looking good in the cosmetic sense. A party is an occasion where you get an opportunity to highlight your physique.

If you have been working hard at your fitness, it is the right place to showcase the results of your effort. A glamorous dress need not always highlight your physique. You may spend a lot of money but may end up buying a dress that makes you look heavier than you actually are.

A closed neck dress is always going to accentuate your chin. If you have a slightly hefty chin, you will end up looking like a trussed chicken. On the other hand, opting for a minimalistic approach when you are extremely thin will make you look like a bag of bones. What is worse is that such fashion mistakes occur when each and every individual attending the party expects the other person to look very good.

The smartest way to overcome this problem is to start with what you wear on a daily basis and try to make changes to highlight your positive features better. If you are comfortable wearing a business suit, then why don’t you look for a two piece attire consisting of a frock and a top?

You can go in for a snug fit or a loose draping frock that will highlight your feminine charms. You can go in for changes in length and wear capris if you are comfortable with trousers.

Finding Jeans That Fit

If you have ever had a hard time finding the perfect pair of jeans, please know that you are not alone. Male and female alike, we’ve all been in the store, staring in the mirror, wondering how in the world it could be so hard to find a pair of pants. Some of these tips might help you through your next shopping trip:

  • Don’t take it personal. The jeans are not out to get you. Manufacturers do not follow a strict size guideline across the board. While a size 8 in Levi’s might be too snug, the Apt. 9 jeans in a size 6 might fit you better. This does not mean that any one company is better than another, just that your body fits differently into their clothes.
  • Look for jeans that contain lycra or spandex as well as cotton. This will help the jeans form to the curves that make up your body. Since not all bodies are composed of the same curves, a little bit of give in the material is a good thing.
  • Don’t try the jeans on in the store. Store mirrors simply lie. You are bound to get home and second-guess your choices. Hold the pants up to the point where you like the waistline to sit. Now, look at the rivets at the outer-corners of the front pockets. These should reach to the middle pint of your hip on each side of your body. Don’t worry about length. Most ready-to-wear jeans should be hemmed to fit you anyway.

Storing Seasonal Clothing

As we approach another season there are many things to think about. Gardening, outdoor activities and cleaning all come to mind. As you clean your home at the beginning of a new season, there are certain areas that must be tackled. It seems as if the bedroom closet is always one of them. Sweaters and other winter wear need to be put away to make room for skirts, tanks, sundresses and other warm weather items.

If you are lacking space, storing these items can be a pain. The best route to go is to invest in plastic storage boxes that will fit under your bed. Depending on the width and length, you may be able to fit six to eight boxes underneath a king size bed, while a double bed may only fit four. These boxes keep you clothing free from dust, moths, and light exposure. Storing the boxes under your bed keeps tham out of your way! Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  • When you prepare to store clothing, you should first check that the item is clean, free from stains or perfumes, and has no holes or tears.
  • If you are storing delicate items, invest in acid-free tissue paper to layer with.
  • Pieces that wrinkle easily can be laid flat, topped with tissue, folded symmetrically, and then gently rolled into a compact cylinder. This reduces the likelihood of set in wrinkles.
  • Heavy items, such as winter jackets, wool blazers, or furs do best when stored flat or hung on a heavy-duty plush hanger.

After the last season’s clothing is out of your way, use a vacuum hose to rid of any dust or cobwebs that may be hiding in your closet. Then it is time to start organizing this season’s wear, which always seems to be more pleasurable than cleaning!

Pajama Bottoms – Qualified Clothing or Not?

Traditional pajamas for sleeping.

It is hard to know what everyday wear really is anymore. When you run to the grocery store, you see people running around in fluffy slippers and pajama bottoms. High schools are full of teenagers clad in clothing that does not fit right… some of it too big, and some too small. Whatever happened to the good old days of jeans and tee shirts, pantsuits for the office and uniforms in schools? Everyday wear has taken a complete turn from what it used to be, leaving many in the lurch about what they should wear.

So, what is today’s take on errand-running attire? What about the office? Does anyone want to take on the teenagers?
-If you are planning to run errands where you might run into other people, pajama bottoms are really not an option. The only exception to the rule is when you are running a fever over 101 degrees. Beyond that, there are no excuses. A close second in terms of comfort are “lounge” pants. They have the comfort and versatility of pajama pants without the stigma attached. Jeans, of course, are the clear winner.

-Office wear is still dress casual in most companies. This requires pants or skirts—no denim unless you have casual Fridays. Shirts should either have buttons, a collar or both. Stuffy and business-like? Maybe, but save the cute clothes for the weekend. Prim and polished goes over better in the business world—ignore this advice if you work in the fashion industry, but in nearly every other setting you should follow every letter!

-When it comes to your teenagers; make sure the undergarments are covered. No one wants to see the skivvies! Sagging pants and too tight tops are unfashionable and unattractive. Manufacturers make clothing in multiple sizes for a reason, let’s take advantage of that… All kidding aside, your teen does not have to dress in a suit and tie to make the grade. Simply wearing the clothes they like, but, in sizes that fit, will polish their appearance.

Spring Fashions – Bright, Not Light

Smell like Palettes

Warm weather is breaking. That means it’s time to pull out the capris, sandals, short-sleeved tops and the swimming suit. For many, the future holds some shopping trips as well. Spring gives such a fresh, renewed feel that it’s almost a necessity to go grab some new clothes! Before you start this year’s shopping venture, think bright. In the past, spring meant pastels, but this year electric hues are showing up on the runways.

According to Pantone, this spring’s color is deemed “honeysuckle.” Bordering on fuchsia, this color is intense and lively. Other colors, such as brilliant yellow, hot pink and vivid green, can give someone a little extra bounce in their step—a perfect feeling during the sometimes dreary spring rains. Not only do happy colors perk up your attitude, but they make you look refreshed as well!

Some looks to try out include:

  • A cute skirt in lime green with a blousy white top worn over a stunning honeysuckle camisole is perfect for day or night—wear the top buttoned up during office hours and let your cami show off during happy hour!
  • Try a sundress with an aqua and coral pattern. Not a typical color combo, but mixed with silver bangles and a thick silver necklace, this look is a clear winner.
  • Black and bright yellow might feel a little too bumble-bee for some. Try yellow hues with navy for a classic look brought up-to-date.
  • Pair your favorite white capri’s with a tropical orange top during a Sunday brunch with the girls. Slip on some fun kitten heels as well. Meow!
  • Don’t forget your accessories; sparkly gold and silver both look hot with this season’s color combos. Brilliant, chunky gemstones are great with any outfit; just be sure to balance out your color palette.

Whichever look you decide to try, remember to have fun with it. A positive approach to life helps any outfit look wonderful!

When it Comes to Diamonds, No Size is Too Big

Many men and women enjoy sporting diamonds as part of their daily jewelry, or for special occasions when dressing up in more fancy apparel than is typically worn. However, some feel that certain sizes of diamonds are simply too large to be worn out. Whether the concern pertains to appearing vain or proud, or that the diamond won’t pair well with the outfit being worn, this is simply no longer true.

Famous athletes and celebrities have proven that large diamond earrings can be worn at all times, and can definitely enhance any outfit. Chandelier earrings are also a popular diamond option, allowing for multiple diamonds to be worn at once without feeling like the cut is too large for everyday wear. When an individual feels that the diamond is too big to wear out, there are several tips when choosing a piece of jewelry that can help to downplay the carat size.

Choosing a ring that has the stone set higher can make a diamond appear much larger, as it will stick up above the rim of the ring. This may be perceived by some as too flashy, so opting for a lower setting can help to minimize this. Additionally, watching the styles of some celebrities can provide tips to wearing large diamonds, but doing so subtly.

For example, when accessorizing with large diamonds, many stars opt to downplay the rest of the outfit. This can be done by wearing only one large piece of jewelry or by selecting clothing that is in dark colors or is tailored closer to the body to avoid appearing flashy or oversized all around. Large jewelry certainly shouldn’t be left in a jewelry box to collect dust, but instead should be worn proudly as a symbol of hard work to earn such an item, or devotion from a loved one. Pairing jewelry with other subtle accessories and clothing can help anyone feel comfortable when wearing larger diamonds.

Special occasion attire for boys and girls that make everyone happy

Special occasions are fun and exciting but dressing for them can be a challenge for some boys and girls. As kids grow out of clothes and tastes in style change what was once a closet of decent outfits has now diminished to nothing but outgrown pants and dresses in less than appealing colors and patterns.

A lack of special occasion attire can easily be replenished by investing in a few interchangeable items of clothing. Boys and girls can smile again when they have garnered a new collection of attire for those special occasions.

Special occasion attire for boys

Typically boys are not interested in dressing in a suit and tie. Instead parents should consider something more comfortable such as cargo pants and a button-down shirt. Investing in at least two pair of cargo pants in neutral colors like black and grey would be ideal. Button-down shirts are versatile and make good companions with cargo pants.

Often overlooked are accessories for boys that go beyond belts and neckties. Put a kick in special occasion attire for boys by including a bolo tie into the outfit. Usually made of leather the bolo tie is fastened around the neck with a metal clasp. Clasps for bolo ties come in various shapes and sizes.

Special occasion attire for girls

Although many girls enjoy dressing for special occasions a wardrobe of all white, frilly dresses can be drab and boring. Instead parents should consider dresses that are sensible and yet carry a look of style and flare. Tiered dresses in bright colors are fun and festive and match any special occasion. A patterned waist dress is suitable for those formal and informal events.

There are a variety of accessories for girls. Dainty purses and lacey socks add appeal to outfits. Hair pieces such as bows and barrettes can be purchased in colors to match the dresses. Don’t forget ribbons! They can be braided in the hair for an elegant and unique look.
